Date Filled Drop Cookies

Date Filled Drop Cookies


1 c. shortening
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
4 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
2 eggs
1/2 c. water
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix together shortening, sugars, flour, salt, soda and cinnamon.  Add eggs, water and vanilla.  Drop by teaspoon on a greased cookie sheet.  Add 1/2 tsp. date filling and cover with 1/2 tsp. dough.  Bake at 350 degrees until nice and lightly browned.

This recipe is from my Aunt Ruby Dobias from my hometown in Atkinson, Nebraska…we loved to go and visit their family in the summertime!  ~Vicki
