This week, The Hutchinson News featured an article that highlights 18 Trends, Tips & Tricks for Winter 2018 by none other than long-time Adrian’s Boutique owner, Vicki Adrian. (Me!) I thought some of our customers that are out of the area might want to read it, so here you go!
Ready or not, 2018 is here, and Vicki Adrian, owner of Adrians Boutique in Buhler has some insights to help you enjoy the winter season. This year it’s all about comfort, and whether you’re refreshing your home after packing away the tinsel and garland, doing a closet purge, or cooking a favorite cold weather soup, comfort is king this winter!
FASHION TRENDS
- January Clearance Sales are on, and it’s a great time to pick up some new accessories to perk up your existing cold weather outfits.
- Silver is making a comeback after a few seasons that have been all about gold jewelry. Time to bring back some of your favorites or shop for a couple of new statement pieces.
- According to Vogue Magazine, Denim is definitely back in style. From jackets to jeans and handbags, you’ll see denim all the way from winter into spring.
- Cozy Knits – the softer and more textured the better. Now is the time to layer soft tees with fuzzy sweaters, vests and jackets.
- Get “outside the box” and purchase one outfit that is a bit of a stretch for you. We don’t mean to go W-A-Y outside the box, just a couple of steps. Maybe try some leggings with boots and a tunic.
- Turquoise rarely goes out of style, as almost every skin color looks good in this color, but this winter it is front and center. Pick up a fun scarf or piece of jewelry that highlights this beautiful color.
A WARM WELCOME HOME
- In today’s hectic world, home needs to become an escape from everyday stresses, digital overload, and harried lifestyles. Establish cozy nooks within your home that include plenty of soft blankets, a lamp and a welcome place to just chill out and relax.
- Plan a family game night once a week through the winter. Whether you have little kids or are empty nesters, winter is a great time to unplug the technology and enjoy each other’s company.
- Brighten up your home with several candles (flameless or traditional) to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere during the long winter evenings.
- Lose the chemicals and clean your home using just water. We have sold the e-Cloth* line for many years, and with it, you can clean anything in you home using just water. You’ll get amazing results!
- Clean out one closet or cabinet each week this winter. This will give you a sense of accomplishment and a great head start for the traditional Spring Cleaning.
- Plan some down time to cozy up and read a good book. Visit your local library and check out a book or two by a new author.
HEALTHY LIVING
- Eat at Home. Plan to have soup simmering on the stove or in the slow cooker a couple of nights each week. Check out Adrian’s Recipe Blog at AdriansBoutique.com for some delicious recipes shared by our clients.
- It gets so dry here in Kansas during the winter, and our skin can really suffer. Make sure you are keeping your skin hydrated by using natural products such as The Naked Bee’s* body lotion.
- Get some exercise! Buhler residents are blessed to have our brand new Buhler Wellness Center, but there are many other places to get your body moving in our area.
- Spend time with friends and family. The human connection can be the best cure for the winter blues. Use FaceTime to stay connected to loved ones who are farther away.
- If the budget allows, book a hotel with an indoor pool for a winter weekend getaway. A change of scenery is always good!
- Bundle up and get out and about this winter. Visit a museum, shop your local stores, take your dog for a walk or meet a friend for coffee.
