Cherry Slices
1 c. butter
1 1/4 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 can cherry pie filling
sliced almonds (optional)
powdered sugar
water
Beat butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla on medium speed until light and fluffy, at least 5 min. Sift dry ingredients together and add to mixture. Pour 3/4 of the batter into a greased jelly roll pan. Spread with 1 can of cherry pie filling . Drop the rest of the batter over the top and spread it around (carefully!) Sprinkle sliced almonds over the top (optional). Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes. Make a glaze of powdered sugar and a little water. Glaze as soon as it comes out of the oven.
