Peach Cobbler

1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1  c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk
2 c. sliced fresh peaches
3/4 c. sugar
3/4 c. water
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 T. sugar

Cream together butter and sugar.  Add flour, baking powder, salt and milk.   Beat ingredients until smooth.  Put in a greased 8×8 glass baking dish.   To loosen skin on peaches, submerge in boiling water for 5-8 seconds.  Peel and slice appox 2 cups of peaches and arrange them in three rows over mixture in dish.  Mix 3/4 cup sugar with  3/4  cup water; pour on top.  Mix 1/2 tsp cinnamon with 1 T. sugar and sprinkle on peaches.  Bake at 350 degrees for one hour.
