Pineapple Pretzel Fluff

1 c. pretzels, coarsely crushed
1/2 c. butter or margarine, melted
1 c. sugar, divided
1 pkg. cream cheese, softened
20 0z. crushed pineapple drained
8 oz. whipped topping, thawed

in a bowl, compine pretzels, 1/2 cup sugar and butter. Press into a 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake at 400° for 7 minutes. Cool. Beat cream cheese and remaining 1/2 cup sugar until creamy. Fold in pineapple and whipped topping. Chill until serving. Break pretzels into small pieces and add to pineapple mixture just before serving.
